yukoogura-02Yuko Ogura (Ogura Yuko) (born November 1, 1983 in Mobara, Chiba prefecture) is a popular Japanese idol and model who typically aims for the cute, innocent schoolgirl look. In Japan, she is mostly called by her nickname, Yukorin .

Ogura regularly, if not entirely seriously, claims to be one "Princess Apple-Momoka" of the apple-shaped planet Korin . This is apparently an in-joke dating back to her middle school days. Having an alternate name was trendy at one point, and one of her friends told her that she looked like a Momoka. She liked the name and still uses it today.

It has been suggested—notably by the Guitar Samurai, in song—that Ogura has carefully calculated and cultivated a quirky, oddball persona for herself. Ogura denies this.

She is known outside of Japan for her song "Onna no KoOtoko no Ko"  which is the ending theme of the anime School Rumble.

Re: re:Yuko Ogura Japan Idol
Ogura Yuko is one of Japan's most popular gravure idols and actresses with Avilla (formerly avant-gardes). To date, she has released or participated in over 60 idol videos.

A mega-popular gravure idol who almost always breaks into the top 10 of Google Japan's search rankings, Ogura Yuko debuted at the age of 17 modeling and doing minor talent gigs for commercials. In 2002 she was chosen as Japan's Telegenic of the year. This pushed Ogura into the spotlight more and she was soon appearing in double the amount of magazines and making more TV appearances.

In 2004 she made her debut as a singer. To commemorate her first single, Azone International (a doll manufacturer) created a doll of Ogura. At the press conference, the idol remarked that you could even take off her panties, sending the audience into a laughing fit. It retailed for 9800yen at most places and is no longer being sold.

Ogura Yuko is the spokeswoman for the Police Association's fight against stalkers campaign in their video "Nakuse! Stalker" (Lose a stalker). She plays a college student who is being stalked by a classmate.

Re: Yuko Ogura is the First Gravure Idol Queen
Super-cute Japanse idol/actress/singer Yuko Ogura (age 24) has been awarded the First Gravure Idol Award from Sankei Newspaper's entertainment website "ZAKZAK." Yukorin, who was the girl dressed as a baby seal in the Youtube video with a polar bear you may have seen, got the award for being pretty much the single most popular bikini idol in Japan over the past eight years, and for breaking the iron-clad rule that a cute idol had to be, well, chesty in order to make it in Japan's cut-throat gravure  idol world. (The term gravure comes from the word photogravure, a process for printing glossy magazines, but has come to mean sexy girls in bikinis in Japan.  The Japanese are quite amorous of giving awards, and there seems to be no end to the prizes that can be given each year: popular idol/actress Yumiko Shaku recently won the "E-Line Award" from the Japan Association of Orthodontics for having the best facal profile, which includes a beautiful nose, jaw and chin. Literary awards are also rampant, and there are frankly so many -- the Yomiuri Prize, the Osaka Women's Literature Award, the Saitama Sports Literature Award -- that they all become kind of meaningles.
